Make athletes inactive, or remove them

Hide athletes you're not coaching, and restore them later.

Last updated August 4, 2026

Athletes come and go by season. RapidCoach never hard-deletes an athlete, so their session and attendance history is always kept — you just hide them from your working roster.

Mark inactive from the roster

On the Athletes page, each athlete has an Active / Inactive switch at the end of their row. The switch is green when they're active, and the word beside it always tells you where they stand.

  1. Flip the switch off. RapidCoach asks “Mark inactive?” first, so a stray tap can't quietly drop someone off your roster.
  2. Choose Yes. They move to the Inactive tab, and a message confirms the change with an Undo link if you didn't mean it.

Flipping someone back on is a single tap — no confirmation, because it only restores them. You can also mark an athlete inactive from their profile page, using the Mark inactive button.

On a phone

Each athlete's card has a Status row at the bottom with the same switch.

What changes when someone is inactive

They stay out of the way without losing anything. An inactive athlete:

Inactive athletes still count toward your plan's athlete limit. If you're at your cap and need room, delete the records you no longer need (below) rather than marking them inactive.

Everything else is untouched. Their history, notes, contacts, benchmarks, video, and group memberships all stay exactly as they were, and any sessions they're already on are unaffected.

You can still find them

Inactive athletes are always searchable. Use the Inactive or All tab on the Athletes page and the search box works as normal. Their profile, history, and the envelope icon for emailing their family all keep working from there.

Delete (and restore)

Choose Delete on an athlete's profile (a two-step confirm) to remove them from every coach's lists. This is a soft delete — their history is retained, and you can restore them from the deleted-athletes section on the Athletes page.

Which one?

Use Inactive for athletes who come and go by season — quick to hide and restore, and they stay searchable. Use Delete for records you added by mistake or no longer want in your lists.
